Meet Neva

The day before this Thanksgiving we had an amazing oppertunity to adopt an English Bull Terrier.
Her name was Jenny, she was adopted by a fellow Marine who brought her to California after his duty was over. Jenny was a former breeding dog who was rescued from a mill by a Bull Terrier rescue in North Carolina. We brought Harley the pug to her home to meet her and to see if she would be a good match as a new family member. When we walked into Jennys home, she was in her bed under the dining room table and we walked right past her and we were shocked..she didnt bark since we were new, she just relaxed.
She was the most mellow bigger dog than I had met. When she came out under the dining room table to meet Harley I was somewhat nervous. With my previous experience with a pitbull attacking my pug Bronx, I didnt know what to expect during the first “hello” and it was a very clean admirable introduction. Wagging tails, no growling, not even a bark .. They both smelled each others rears and that was it, we found our next dog and we took her home. We learned Jenny liked to shake and liked treats.. We watched Harley as we gave her a treat to see if he would have any aggressions to her and he sat and waited for his turn.
We brought her to our home and she seemed a bit overwhelmed with how big our place was since she came from a small apartment. We introduced her to every room and to where her crate would be kept. She seemed like she adapted well, since her previous owner said to not be worried if she was in her crate alot during the first few days.. she needed time to adapt.. but inactuality she wanted to be where we were.
Luckily, I had five days off to be with the two dogs while they got acquainted it was a perfect situation.
We decided to name her Neva (knee-vah) in spanish it means covered in snow.

A couple weeks before Miles had passed away.

October 24th

A week ago, an over the counter flea medication was administered to our pugs.
After 10 minutes they both seemed to be in pain.
We washed both Harley and Miles till the pesticides were off their bodies.
After the fact, we read all the negative reviews about SENTRY PRO XFC flea medication. We read all the negative experiences dog owners have had in the past. Yet this product still hasnt been taken off shelves of [what we thought were] trusting pet stores. Please do research before you put any type of flea medication of your pets.
Their hair fell out, and appeared to have a hot spot where the chemicals were initally placed.
After five days Miles stopped eating and began vomiting.
He was taken to a vet, who determined he needed an irrigation of the spot, under anesthesia and he would be returned to me in the afternoon and that was likely the reason why miles wasnt eating.
The next morning, Miles still hadnt ate.
had vommited four times, had nasty diahrea
and Miles returned to the same vet who thought the irrigation was needed, to fix this problem that he still had.
Miles did not get any diagnostic testing before his initial irrigation procedure.
I wonder if Miles did get the proper testing before the procedure, if this sickness would have been caught earlier.
Miles was kept by the vet overnight for IV treatment, and said he would be returned to me on Saturday. Saturday, he still wasnt doing any better. He was on some anti vomiting medication but still had diahrea. (was he still on IV at the vets house?? )
This sunday afternoon we were notified by the vet that Miles had passed away.
from Kidney Failure.
We didnt get to see you before you passed.
We didnt see you at your lowest point.
So many unanswered questions and what ifs for my baby black pug Miles.
I am sorry you passed away at five months old.
We miss you so dearly and cant replace you.
Harley looks for you hoping for you to come home.
I am thankful Miles slept with us the night before he went to the vet.
He snored very loud with belly up. It was the most uncomfortable but the last positive memorable nights.

Football Sunday

Mom is a St Louis Rams & San Diego Chargers follower
and Dad is a Chicago Bears die hard fan.
We have a football for our own, and dad threw it down the hall but we dont know how to share.
We didnt get to go to the park today since football was on all day. We got to soak in some warm bubbly water since its been hot & some fleas decided to join the family. We did get to sit on the couch and take long naps despite our new flea issue.
